Fazit
For technical terrain and fast hiking: Salomon. For wide feet and all-day comfort: Merrell.
The Salomon X Ultra 4 is built for speed and precision. Its Contagrip sole grips wet rock like glue and the chassis provides stability without weight. The Merrell Moab 3 takes a different approach with a wider last and more cushioning for all-day comfort. It is the more forgiving shoe that works for most foot shapes right out of the box. Both are excellent day hikers, the choice comes down to your foot shape and terrain preference.
